Noob's Guide to Hosting Apache, PHP, and MYSQL on an XP Box

 The other day I had to set up Apache, PHP, and MYSQL on my Windows XP machine to host a test a Drupal site I am helping develop.  The http folder was in a different folder because it was in a Git repository (more on that experience in a later post). Needless to say, I went to the places outlined in Drupal's installation requrements page, and I had a very difficult time getting Apache and PHP to link. It was so much easier in Linux. I tried until I gave up and found a much easier solution.  READ MORE>

StreetSmartBrazil.com 2.0 is finally here!

After many painstaking hours of work, I have completed StreetSmartBrazil.com and published it. I created it out of Drupal like my site, but it is chock full of advanced features like forums, advanced profiles, a buddy system, an advanced Amazon astore, and all sorts of cool stuff.  A couple of months ago, I could not have imaged that I would be creating a website this complex and content/feature rich, but here it is.   READ MORE>

Shoot Some Goals for an Easy 10% Off at AA

Planning a trip?  It doesn't seem very publicised widely outside of maybe the soccer/football//futbol/futebol world, but I found an easy way to get 10% off your flight from American Airlines trip between October 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009.  READ MORE>

Diamond Oaks Vineyards - Wonderful in October

This weekend was a birthday part for serveral of my Brazilian friends, and they decided to charter a bus up to Diamond Oaks Vineyards.  I tried a few of their wines, and they were nice--particularly the Cabernet. However, I myself am a Pinot Noir type of guy, and for my tastes I found their Pinot a bit dry (although that does not mean I left without a bottle). You could almost feel some carbonation as if it was an Italian Fresh Wine.  However, as far as destinations go, it now has to be one of my favourites in the North Bay. READ MORE>

3 Green Cars Duke It Out in Denmark (Literally)

;

A VW, a Prius, and a Tesla seem to have done battle on a motorway in Denmark. Literally. If a smart fortwo was in there, it surely would have left as the victor. (via Jalopnik)

Tom Rogers - A Great Drupal Resource

 I found a great resource in Drupal today, a Brit named Tom Rogers. Seems he's been putting up tutorials about various tech subjects for a couple years now, and his Drupal ones have been most helpful to me. Check out by the one below, which introduces theming.  READ MORE>

Barnes & Noble Releases the Nook

 Just earlier today, I blogged about the leaked e-book reader from Barnes & Noble.  Just half a day later, they go ahead and release it.  Here is the link to the Nook site.

Optimistic about Barnes & Noble's Leaked E-Book Reader

I had heard the other day that Barnes & Noble was possibly releasing a Kindle-like e-book reader with a better interface (two screens including a small color one to browse books and type). It didn't excite me too much, as I find e-books to be a bit expensive and you're a bit limited with them the way they are implemented (you can't lend them to a friend for instance). READ MORE>

Changed Theme to Marinelli - I'm really getting into this

If you are a follower of this blog (good on ya), you'll notice the site has changed a lot.  I found a new theme that I like even better, and it's given me a start on learning how to tweak/make Drupal themes. READ MORE>
