A Lesson Learned on Ebay - Always Put in the DIMENSIONS

I'm helping our 24 Hours of Lemons team by Ebaying some of the parts.  In doing so I have made a small faux pas from which I have now learned.

One of my items was the windshield washer reservoir, which is huge, but weighs almost nothing.  I put down 3lb in the shipping calculator for UPS when I was making the listing, and I thought all was fine and dandy.  Well, it sold for $0.99 and the buyer paid the recommended for shipping, which was about about $14.  I went to ship the item, and it turned out to be over $40 to ship. So basically I just paid $20 for the privelage of shipping an old car part to someone.  Why?  Apparently UPS's shipping is not calculated by weight alone.  Had I put in the dimensions, I would have gotten a more accurate calculation.

Though I would like to see Ebay put a warning there specifying that dimensions affect price, at least my lesson is learned. Hopefully this post saves someone a few bucks.
